Dr Florida commenced Psychiatric training in 2004, after being a General Practitioner for 12 years. Whilst she was in General Practice Dr Florida completed a Masters in Psychological Medicine. Dr Florida has a passion for all areas of Psychiatry, including training and experience in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In addition, Dr Florida has also completed Addictions training, with a keen focus on Recovery.
Dr Florida has worked in Public Mental Health settings, in Australia, New Zealand and New York. She was attached to the Hills Clinic for 5 years working with inpatients and outpatients. She has been in her own private rooms, Gladstone Practice, for the last 8 years.
The limitations of our current medications, even when combined with appropriate psychotherapy, is what prompted Dr Florida to undertake 12-month training with the Integrated Psychiatry Institute in Colorado. The training focused on Psilocybin, MDMA and Ketamine treatments. The program was an intensive, well regarded, evidence-based program with a focus on the therapy that complements these new treatments. Without the proper preparation, safe and supportive administration, and follow up integration, the true benefit for patients is not realised.
Dr Florida is excited to be joining the Evolution, Therapy team to offer these new treatments to patients, in an ethical and effective manner.
